Solubility: soluble in water, 1 volume of water can dissolve 2 volumes of chlorine gas at room temperature; Soluble in diformamide, benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, tetrachloroethane, chlorobenzene, ice acetic acid (99.84%), phosphoryl chloride, silicon tetrachloride, metal chlorides (such as chromyl chloride, titanium tetrachloride, vanadium chloride).
Appearance and smell: yellow-green oily liquid, which is vaporized into yellow-green gas with pungent odor under normal pressure.
Chemical properties: The chemical properties of chlorine are very active, can react with metals, non-metals and base compounds, and can also replace and add reactions with organic compounds. It's highly toxic.
This product will not burn, but can help to burn. General flammable gases or vapors can also form explosive mixtures with chlorine. Chlorine gas can violently react with acetylene, ether, turpentine, ammonia, hydrogen, metal powder and other chemicals to explode and produce explosive substances. Dry chlorine has no corrosive effect on metals, while wet chlorine has a strong corrosive effect.
Hazardous category: Class 2.3 toxic gases
Product execution standard
The quality of the company's industrial liquid chlorine products meets the requirements of qualified products in GB 5138-2006 "Industrial Liquid Chlorine" (see the following table) :
■ Storage
◎ Flammable and combustible items should not be stacked within 20m of the liquid chlorine storage tank area.
◎ There should be safety signs in the storage area, and corresponding emergency repair equipment, effective protective appliances and fire fighting equipment.
◎ The ground of the above-ground liquid chlorine storage tank area should be 0.3m ~ 0.5m lower than the surrounding ground or 0.3m ~ 0.5m emergency cofferdam should be set around the storage area to prevent the expansion of the liquid chlorine gasification area once the liquid chlorine leakage accident occurs.
■ Transportation
◎ The relevant employees of the transportation unit shall pass the professional training and examination, and obtain the certificate before taking the post.
◎ The use of liquid chlorine automobiles tank trucks should implement the relevant safety regulations of automobiles tank trucks, and the use of liquid chlorine container tanks should comply with the relevant national regulations.
◎ Vehicles transporting infusion chlorine should strictly abide by the driving route prescribed by the local public security traffic management department, and should not stop in densely populated areas and places with open flames and high heat.
◎ Hazardous chemical transport vehicles should be hoisted with dangerous goods signs in accordance with regulations.
◎ Should not be mixed with other items or let unrelated people aboard.
◎ When the vehicle is parked, it should be braking reliably and kept on duty.
◎ High temperature season should be transported according to the time specified by the local public security traffic management department.
◎ Vehicles transporting transfusion chlorine should not cross the river from the tunnel.
◎ Personnel with an escort card should be selected to escort and guard the vehicle.
◎ Escorts should deal with chlorine leakage promptly to prevent the situation from expanding, and should immediately notify the relevant part of the local government.
